Spinal cord stimulation (SCS), often also called neuromodulation or dorsal column stimulation, is a specialist technique which we use for the management of a range of spinal and nerve problems. The commonest indications for SCS are severe persistent pain after spinal surgery, a condition that is also frequently known as Failed Back Surgery Syndrome (FBSS) and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).

There have been rapid and significant advances made in SCS over the last few years, culminating with the development of high frequency neuromodulation which is a technology developed by Nevro Inc, and we are one of the few centres in Europe to be implanting Nevro spinal cord stimulators.

SCS can be a successful technique for the management of conditions that had otherwise proven to be impossible to manage with any other medical or surgical techniques.
